Dr. Mary Kay Vaughan, 1942–2024: A Celebration of Contributions to Mexican Historical Studies, Part 2

This roundtable (Session II) is one of two that explores the contributions made by Dr. Mary Kay Vaughan to the field of Mexican history. The first presentation focuses on Vaughan's gifts as a history teacher. Guridy reflects on Vaughan's unique ability to make the historian's craft exciting to her students. The second presentation discusses contribution to the history of education. Vaughan’s first two monographs, which had a tremendous impact on the history of education in Mexico and inspired a generation of scholars. The final presentation by Shane Dillingham will address Dr. Vaughan’s significant contributions to Mexican historiography as well as her life in the state of Oaxaca and her engagement with the local intellectual community as well as the communities in which she lived.
