Southern Cone Studies Section: Community-Engaged Research and Southern Cone Studies

This panel explores community engaged research from the perspective of the Southern Cone, including work that engages communities in the Southern Cone as well as Southern Cone scholars who engage broad publics in Latin America and the United States. Given the current political climate and the urgency of making the case for why humanities research and teaching matter to the university, to funding agencies, and to the public at large, we invite the panelists and audience to participate in a wide-ranging conversation on what it means to translate research for different audiences and communities. We take up the practicalities of making research accessible, serving at educational institutions, and promoting public humanities and digital humanities.
