Teaching How to Form and Be in Community

Friday 9 January 2026·1:30 pm

The Post-COVID age of isolation, fueled by Zoom meetings, asynchronous learning, and doom scrolling on social media is not conducive to forming and remaining in community. This state of affairs arguably existed before the pandemic, but the confluence of external factors has created a situation in which an entire generation of young adults have never learned how to form and be in community with like-minded people. During this session, scholars who range from the undergraduate level to mid-level professors, will discuss how to teach how to form and be in community for groups within their area of research interest. The intent of this lightning round is to inspire ways to teach how to form communities as a basis for rebuilding a sense of community.
