In this session, we will delve into the science and practice of Spaced Learning, a structured approach to teaching that uses repeated exposures to content interleaved with physical or unrelated activities. Grounded in neuroscience and recently validated by one of the largest secondary science trials in the UK, Spaced Learning has been shown to significantly improve pupils’ ability to recall scientific knowledge after a delay of three months — without requiring additional teaching time. We’ll explore the core principles of Spaced Learning, share key findings from the 2025 study published in PLOS ONE, and guide you through examples of how this can look in real classrooms.
