The take up of AI in education in the last year in a global setting

The presentation takes the form of a lecture including a series of facts about what is actually happening in education in universities, Further Education and secondary schools today. Activate learning has already managed to provide value to data on their projects. We have seen a teacherless school in London in September 2024, Virtual Reality headsets and number of robots representing absent sick children in our classrooms in the UK already this year. As AI is developing so rapidly the information has to be updated on a weekly basis. The analysis is divided into three sections: it’s use in languages, images and robots. In some ways this reflects different learning styles. Most conversations in education have been around the large language models such as chat GPT. However, the developments of image manipulation and possible consequences plus the presence of friendly robots in our schools have been progressing apace. This is happening now! Participants will be given the opportunity to reflect on their previous experiences in the use of technology such as laptops and smart boards for teachers, the use of the Internet, social media, tablets and smart phones. This will be an opportunity to experience collaborative learning. Topics covered will also include the government AI in education document, schools and universities, examination boards and governing bodies responses and policies about the use of AI in student assignments, examinations and the marking and detection of plagiarism. Software is now available to detect AI but what is its reliability? Teachers and school leaders will learn about the adoption of AI by early adapters across the world and some of the solutions that have been instigated so far. There will be an opportunity for participants to discuss their concerns and solutions to the pace of change.
