A Real Approach to Algebra I: Task Design to Engage Students with Unfinished Learning

Students come to us with unfinished learning from prior years, yet the urgency to cover grade level content remains. This session will share strategies to elevate your Algebra I classroom into a space where all learners can make sense of the math. Attendees will experience examples of tangible contexts, modeling and meaningful problem solving covering important algebraic concepts including interpreting graphs and exploring non-linear functions. While examples will pertain to Algebra I, strategies shared apply to all math classrooms.
