Poster Session
CLB‑Based, Tuition‑Free English Programs at VCC Vesna Radivojevic Vancouver Community College’s English as an Additional Language (EAL) Department offers a range of tuition‑free, CLB‑aligned English programs designed to support newcomers and Canadian citizens who need continued language development beyond Stage 1 and settlement-based classes. This poster highlights two key options: the ESL Pathways Program and a set of elective English courses, including Grammar, Pronunciation, Writing, and EAL for Health Care. All courses are funded by the provincial government, making them accessible to learners who may face financial or program‑availability barriers. With recent reductions in LINC Stage 2 offerings, many learners are left without a next step. At the same time, we have found that many LINC instructors and community partners are not fully aware of VCC’s no‑cost English options. Our poster provides practical information about eligibility, CLB placement, course content, delivery formats, and progression routes to help practitioners have a better understanding of the program. This session connects directly to the conference theme Rooted and Relevant: EAL Approaches in a Changing World by showcasing the program that is accessible and responsive despite shifts in the settlement sector.
