Accessible Digital Content that Works for Learners with Disabilities

Learn the basics of finding and creating digital learning materials (documents, websites, and videos) that are accessible to students with disabilities. This session will introduce simple, effective strategies for making content more accessible and provide tools you can use to advocate for accessibility in your school or district.Participants will be able to: 1. Apply basic accessibility practices when creating standard documents (Word and Google Docs) and presentations (PowerPoint and Google Slides). Skills will include how to use document headings, meaningful link text, and adding alt text for images. 2. Use common video platforms (such as YouTube) to identify videos that already have professional video captions as well free resources that can be used to caption videos that are not already captioned. 3. Communicate to leaders and colleagues the importance of digital accessibility when selecting or procuring curriculum materials.
