Adapting Check-in/Check-out (CICO) for High School Contexts: Research Findings and Implications for Practice

This session will present findings from several recent studies evaluating Check-In/Check-Out High School (CICO-HS). CICO-HS is an adapted intervention designed to match student developmental needs and address unique high school systems and characteristics. Presenters will share lessons learned from research and practical implications for effectively implementing CICO in high schools.Participants will be able to: 1. Discuss results from several recent studies focused on Check-in/Check-out High School (CICO-HS), a Tier 2 intervention adapted for high school contexts, which have demonstrated positive student outcomes and high levels of social acceptability. 2. Describe how enhancing organizational systems in high schools can help to support both daily CICO-HS implementation and the use of data for decision making by Tier 2 teams. 3. Identify implementable strategies high schools are currently using for adapting CICO to more effectively meet the needs of students by centering student voice and supporting a student directed approach.
