Advanced Standards in Gifted Educator Preparation: Update and Next Steps

Presenters will share updates to the Advanced Standards in Gifted Educator Preparation, which will be used in determining national and state accreditation of institutions and the essential knowledge and skills for advanced certificates and degrees in gifted education. Participants will have an opportunity to make recommendations for further revision.Participants will be able to: 1. Describe the scope and focus of the current versions of the Advanced Standards in Gifted Educator Preparation and provide feedback for further revisions. 2. Use these standards as a framework for identifying gifted educators’ knowledge and skills and developing professional learning opportunities. 3. Advocate for quality services and programs for gifted students.
