AI for MTSS: Using Artificial Intelligence to Support Students At Risk or With Disabilities
This session explores how artificial intelligence (AI) can be leveraged to enhance multi-tiered system of support (MTSS) for students at risk or with disabilities. Attendees will gain tools and strategies to ethically implement AI for identification, progress monitoring, intervention planning, and instructional decision-making across Tier 1, 2, and 3 supports. Participants will be able to: 1. Understand how artificial intelligence can enhance MTSS implementation. 2. Gain a clear understanding of how AI can support data-based decision-making across academic, behavioral, and social-emotional domains within Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 supports. 3. Apply AI-informed strategies to strengthen instructional interventions. 4. Evaluate AI tools using a legally and ethically sound framework. 5. Receive a practical tool to assess whether AI applications align with IDEA, Section 504, FERPA, and the instructional needs of students with or at risk for disabilities. 6. Access AI-enhanced resources to support immediate implementation. 7. Promote equitable and inclusive MTSS practices through responsible AI use. 8. Leave with a deeper understanding of how to ensure AI supports—rather than replaces—professional judgment, cultural responsiveness, and the individual needs of each learner.
