AI for Special Education: Using Artificial Intelligence to Develop and Implement High-Quality Educational Programming
This session explores how artificial intelligence (AI) can enhance the design and delivery of specially designed instruction (SDI) and high-leverage practices (HLPs) to improve outcomes for students with disabilities (SWDs). Participants will gain practical strategies, tools, and frameworks to ethically integrate AI into IEP development, instructional planning, and progress monitoring. Participants will be able to: 1. Be equipped with the knowledge and tools to thoughtfully integrate artificial intelligence (AI) into their special education practices. 2. Walk away with clear, practical examples illustrating how AI can enhance the development and delivery of specially designed instruction (SDI) and support the implementation of high-leverage practices (HLPs) across individualized education programs (IEPs). 3. Receive a structured planning framework designed to guide the evaluation of AI tools through the lens of special education law, IDEA compliance, and research-based instructional practices. 4. Gain access to a curated collection of AI-enhanced resources, including templates, toolkits, and tip sheets that support the implementation and documentation of SDI using core HLPs.
