AI in Education: From Research on Safeguards to Practical Classroom Implementation and Progress Monitoring

This randomized control trial evaluates teacher-led versus artificial intelligence (AI)-facilitated instruction and its capacity to assist educators and motivate students. Possible considerations to improve implementation will be discussed, including engineered input, knowledgeable databases, a clear pedagogical focus, and using AI as one source among many. Student-generated projects will be provided. Participants will be able to: 1. Implement two free AI tools designed for educators to personalize instruction, free up teacher time spent on administrative tasks, and support diverse learner needs. 2. Implement two free AI tools designed for students to provide students with a voice to show their knowledge, develop students' independent abilities to adapt their own instructional materials, and provide multiple means for students with disabilities to represent their new learning. 3. Reflect on and improve their teaching practices by integrating AI in a manner that supports student goals, is safe, is ethical, and ensures sources within the AI are accurate and research-based.
