Beyond Behavior: A Trauma-Informed Approach to Learning and Connection
Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) negatively impact student learning, behavior, and well-being. This session explores ACE prevalence, especially among marginalized youth, and introduces the ARC Framework—a trauma-informed model promoting attachment, regulation, and competency. Participants will learn to apply ARC within MTSS, PBIS, and SEL to enhance school climate and equity. Participants will be able to: 1. Define ACEs/Extended ACEs and current demographic statistics and the impact on individuals 2. Define and apply the ARC framework within the school and identify the positive outcomes for schools and students when employing trauma informed care 3. Identify practical trauma-informed strategies tailored to the school context, including classroom routines, discipline approaches, and staff collaboration
