Beyond the Classroom: Family-School Partnerships that Multiply Math Opportunities

The importance of family-school partnership in the area of math cannot be overstated. This presentation will provide participants with practical research-based strategies to collaborate with families to enhance early math opportunities at home for all children, including children with disabilities. Participants will also be provided with open access materials. Participants will be able to: 1. Define the home math environment and describe the importance of the home math environment and its association with math achievement in school. 2. Identify strategies and describe easily accessible materials that parents can use to support children with early math learning opportunities in the home math environment. 3. Develop and enhance family-school partnerships related to supporting all children, including children with disabilities, in the home math environment.
