Breaking Barriers: Expanding Access for Gifted and Twice-Exceptional Learners through MTSS Integration
Gifted education often feels like “one more thing,” operating outside the core system. MTSS offers a path to break down silos and create scalable, equity-driven structures, expanding access and strengthening services for advanced learners. From classrooms to state infrastructure, we explore support for gifted and twice-exceptional students through systemic integration.Participants will be able to: 1. Explain how MTSS structures can support gifted education by integrating identification, tiered supports, and progress monitoring into a cohesive system for advanced learners. 2. Identify strategies for embedding gifted services into existing MTSS frameworks, including academic and social-emotional supports at each tier. 3. Assess their own system’s readiness to integrate gifted education into MTSS, using reflective tools and guiding questions shared during the session.
