CASE Showcase: 90 Tips in 120 Minutes

This lightning-fast session will provide participants with 90 practical tips in 120 minutes on all things legal, from A to Z, in the field of special education. Tips and topics covered will begin with referral, then move to evaluation, eligibility, IEP/placement, procedural safeguards, discipline, and Section 504/ADA and end with some miscellaneous practical tips. The ideas of the presentation focus on current special education legal issues and are designed to educate educators on tips for staying compliant with the law. Participants will be able to: 1. Identify common areas where legal issues arise in the education of students with disabilities. 2. Provide practical tips to school staff for avoiding legal disputes in the area of special education. 3. Be more familiar with the overall legal requirements of the IDEA and Section 504.
