DADD Showcase: Bridging Research to Practice: The Role of Research-Based Curriculum in Supporting Systematic Instruction

This session will explore how embedding systematic instruction procedures within research-based curricula can improve teachers’ implementation fidelity and promote generalization of evidence-based practices for students with intellectual disabilities. Findings from a recent study will be shared, along with practical strategies for advancing equity and access to grade-aligned instruction. Participants will be able to: 1. Identify key systematic instruction procedures supported by research for improving academic and functional outcomes for students with intellectual disabilities. 2. Analyze how embedding systematic instruction within research-based curricula can enhance fidelity of implementation and promote generalization across content areas. 3. Apply strategies to support the implementation of evidence-based practices that increase equitable access to the general curriculum for students with intellectual disabilities and autism.
