Join the Division of Emotional and Behavioral Health for an interactive discussion on redefining Emotional and Behavioral Disorders (EBD). This session emphasizes the need for a revised, comprehensive definition that integrates diverse stakeholder perspectives to develop effective, inclusive support systems for students facing emotional and behavioral challenges in educational settings.Participants will be able to: 1. Identify key limitations and implications of the current definition of Emotional and Behavioral Disorders. 2. Understand the importance of and need for more accurate and equitable identification of students with EBD. 3. Understand that despite being consistently criticized for decades, this definition remains the most common basis for identification. 4. Provide their input and suggest potential solutions. 5. Understand the problem of differentiating students with social maladjustment and those with emotional disturbance.
