Deep Dive: Identifying Dyslexia and DLD Using Dynamic Assessments of Language and Literacy

While dyslexia screening is increasingly mandated by U.S. legislation, developmental language disorder (DLD)—equally common and impactful—remains overlooked. Champion equitable screening and testing for DLD and dyslexia within a MTSS framework using dynamic assessments of language and literacy, ensuring all students receive the early identification and support they need to succeed. Participants will be able to: 1. Describe dynamic assessment and the current evidence for validity for language and decoding assessment. 2. Learn how dynamic assessment can both identify students with dyslexia and/or DLD but also provide information to make the MTSS framework valid, equitable, and instructionally powerful.
