Deep Dive: Student Outcomes When Co-Teaching Is Used with Fidelity in Secondary Education: Learn how it works!

Thursday 12 March 2026·12:30 pm

This session explores the impact of co-teaching on student outcomes in secondary education when implemented with fidelity and grounded in research-based instructional practices. Drawing on empirical research from a high school district in the northeastern United States, the presentation highlights how co-teaching, when aligned with research-based instruction, can enhance access. Participants will be able to: 1. Analyze the impact of co-teaching on student outcomes using evidence from current research and classroom-based data and apply a fidelity checklist to evaluate and refine their current co-teaching practices for greater instructional effectiveness. 2. Differentiate between co-teaching models and determine how to align each with research-based instructional practices to support diverse learners. 3. Integrate specially designed instruction (SDI) and scaffolding strategies into co-teaching approaches to better support students with disabilities and those needing additional academic access.
