Defining Excellence in Transition: The Updated CEC/DCDT Competencies to Transform Postsecondary Outcomes

This session highlights the CEC/DCDT Transition Competencies designed to ensure that transition specialists are prepared to support students with disabilities in achieving meaningful postsecondary outcomes. Participants will explore the updated competencies, learn about the national certification, and engage in discussion to drive practice improvement, and professional identity in transition services. Participants will be able to: 1. Identify and explain the seven updated CEC/DCDT Transition Competencies. 2. Apply these competencies to improve equitable transition programming. 3. Understand the national certification process and how to begin preparation. 4. Use shared tools and strategies to integrate the competencies into IEP teams, interagency partnerships, and professional development.
