Doing More by Doing Less: Promoting Effective and Sustainable Job Coaching in Secondary Transition Settings

Secondary transition educators support students' vocational growth through job coaching in school and community settings. Effective strategies enhance performance and catalyze long-term success. This session introduces a stepwise approach designed to promote student independence and social integration through systematic, student-centered job coaching.Participants will be able to: 1. Describe the steps of the MADE 2 FADE framework and summarize its relevant to transition-aged students with intellectual and developmental disabilities. 2. Collect student performance data consistently to evaluate when fading of support is appropriate to promote student autonomy, task independence, and social integration in real-world employment settings. 3. Design an action plan to implement the MADE 2 FADE approach with their students in classroom and community settings.
