Elevating Co-Teaching: Action-Driven Professional Learning for Sustained Inclusive Excellence

Friday 13 March 2026·2:15 pm

This session introduces a dynamic co-teaching professional learning model enriched by three evidence-based protocols designed to improve team collaboration, co-instruction, and equitable access. Results from implementation in two socioeconomically diverse Wicomico County schools demonstrate how the model builds high-performing partnerships and promotes inclusive, effective instruction for all learners. Participants will be able to: 1. Understand the enriched co-teaching paradigm and how researched based protocols strengthen team dynamics, planning, and instruction. 2. Analyze real-world implementation data and experiences from two socioeconomically diverse schools in Wicomico County to understand how consistent, equity-centered practices can be sustained across varied educational contexts. 3. Identify challenges and solutions related to building co-teaching parity, co-planning routines, and inclusive instructional delivery, especially in settings with limited time or resources. 4. Explore a hybrid, competency-based professional learning model that embeds co-teaching support within the school year, providing just-in-time coaching and practical application opportunities. 5. Reflect on transferability by considering how the protocols and professional learning model can be adapted for their own local contexts to promote student access and engagement in general education classrooms.
