Expo Showcase: AI for SPED - How to Leverage AI Responsibly, Safely, and Effectively?

As artificial intelligence becomes more visible in special education, leaders are making high-stakes decisions affecting instruction, equity, trust, and compliance, often without clear guidance. This session introduces a practical framework to help SPED leaders evaluate where AI fits within their systems, what it can support, and where professional judgment must remain central. Through district examples, participants will see how teams use AI to strengthen present levels, improve progress monitoring and collaboration, and reduce administrative burden while staying aligned with IDEA and FERPA. Participants will leave with evaluation criteria, implementation strategies, and access to a free Journify Learning pilot.
