Facilitating Kindergarten Transition: Practitioners Address Hopes, Fears, and Needs of Families with Disabilities
For children with disabilities and their families, the transition to kindergarten can be challenging due to differences in expectations, environmental structures, and level of support provided across early childhood and kindergarten settings. This session will give practitioners and educators strategies to better support diverse families and children during this time.Participants will be able to: 1. Understand some of the barriers that families face during the transition. 2. Learn ways to build connections with families during this time. 3. Learn specific strategies to use with families to promote equitable access to resources for this transition.
