From Barriers to Bridges: Community Collaboration for Youth with Disabilities in Arkansas

Despite efforts, youth with disabilities face poor outcomes and underemployment. Qualitative research from the STAR project shows that Career Councils and expanded supports improve collaboration among schools, families, and agencies. Participants reported increased engagement and impact, especially in high-need Arkansas communities, through targeted learning modules and sustainable community partnerships.Participants will be able to: 1. Discuss strategies to recruit school partners in low-resource, high-need areas. 2. Build collaborative relationships with various stakeholders, including families, students, local communities, local school districts, and various state agencies.
