Future-Ready: Leveraging Assistive Technology for Successful Transitions
Assistive technology (AT) is often misunderstood as high-tech devices for students with extensive support needs. AT is a spectrum of tools and strategies to support students with disabilities. We'll discuss differences in educational, accessible, and assistive technologies and AT's role in supporting learners and its often-overlooked importance in transition planning.Participants will be able to: 1. Differentiate between educational, accessible, and assistive technologies. 2. Identify the importance of incorporating assistive technology into the transition planning process for all students with disabilities. 3. Utilize resources to consider assistive technology.
