Having Trouble Teaching Mathematics Intervention? Here Are 6 Instructional Strategies.
Strong foundational skills in mathematics are critical for long-term academic success. This session will introduce six evidence-based practices educators can use for effective mathematics instruction in grades K-6. We will explore how these practices are currently being used in the classroom by educators in naturalistic settings. Participants will be able to: 1. Describe six instructional practices recommended in the IES Assisting Students Struggling with Mathematics practice guide for grades K–6: systematic instruction, mathematical language, visual representations, number lines, word problems, and timed activities. 2. Implement the six instructional practices in their own classroom or instructional setting.
