Igniting Outcomes: Empower Secondary Transition Specialists and Administrators to Revolutionize Adult Outcomes for All Learners
Preparing youth with disabilities for life after high school demands more than compliance—it requires student outcomes. This session provides a blueprint for actionable change in transition education. Participants will explore how Universal Design for Learning (UDL), High-Leverage Practices (HLPs), and Evidence-Based Practices (EBPs) intersect to create research-aligned instruction. Participants will be able to: 1. Analyze key evidence-based predictors of postschool success (e.g., career preparation, student-led IEPs, and self-determination) and describe how these predictors can be embedded into transition-focused instruction and IEP planning. 2. Implement actionable strategies that promote student-centered transition planning, including person-centered approaches, co-teaching models, and culturally responsive instructional methods that empower students to actively participate in shaping their postsecondary goals.
