Impacts of Integrated Handwriting Instruction on Literacy Skills of a Middle Schooler with Complex Difficulties
Grounded in theory and evidence-based practice, Write Sounds (WS) is a systematic, multimodal intervention targeting transcription and phonics skills. This session provides an overview of WS and highlights findings from a WS-Accelerated case study with a student who has multiple literacy difficulties. Attendees will learn strategies for effective literacy intervention.Participants will be able to: 1. Implement an integrated intervention to increase a student’s literacy skills based on assessment data. 2. Identify ways to incorporate multiple modalities into literacy instruction (e.g., visual, kinesthetic, auditory). 3. Explain the importance of using a systematic and iterative data-based approach to teach literacy skills.
