Improving the Outcomes of Young Children with Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)

ADHD is one of the most common disabilities, with a significant impact on functioning. This presentation will describe an early intervention program (PEAK) for parents along with data from a randomized controlled trial showing significant reduction in ADHD symptoms and challenging behaviors. Implications for practitioners and parents will be described.Participants will be able to: 1. Describe specific intervention strategies that are effective for reducing symptoms of ADHD and conduct problems and increase pre-academic skills in young children. 2. Identify important skills for coaching parents that will assist them to improve behavior and pre-academic skills in their child. 3. Describe specific strategies to support parents of young children with ADHD who also have ADHD.
