Increasing Special Education Teacher Retention Through Targeted Coaching: Focusing on High Leverage Practices (HLPs)
Attempting to increase special education retention through targeted coaching focusing on High Leverage Practices (HLPs) for University Supervisors (US), Cooperating Teachers (CT), and preservice teachers, this presentation shares one university’s innovative approach. Emphasis is placed on implementation of HLPs from preservice teachers and explore their applicability into a supervision context. Participants will be able to: 1. Increase awareness of high leverage practices. 2. Mobilize change within teacher education preparation programs. 3. Progress the evidence-based research on coaching frameworks and increase special education teacher retention through targeted coaching for future teachers.
