Leaders Unlocking Potential: Strengthening Services for Students with Disabilities

Supporting students with disabilities (SWDs) requires leadership – leadership that is intentional, collaborative, and grounded in high expectations for every learner. In this session, the Lead IDEA Center will explore an interactive tool, Principal Navigator: Strengthening Services for Students with Disabilities, that principals can use to improve services for SWDs.Participants will be able to: 1. Identify and describe the key leadership practices that strengthen services for students with disabilities, including practices that promote high quality instruction, collaborative for IEP implementation, and a culture of high expectations. 2. Use the Principal Navigator tool to build knowledge and skills in their current leadership practices and prioritize targeted actions that support the continuous improvement of special education services within their schools. 3. Explore and utilize resources from the Lead IDEA Centre to support local leaders.
