Lovin’ LIFE and Empowered to Work: Strengthening Employability Through Inclusive Postsecondary Programs

Individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) face persistent employment barriers. This session highlights how Comprehensive Transition Postsecondary (CTP) programs enhance employability through job training, internships, and individualized supports. Presenters will share implementation strategies, outcomes, and case studies demonstrating how CTPs foster independence, skill development, and inclusive workforce participation.Participants will be able to: 1. Differentiate between the types of work-based learning experiences offered at CTPs: job shadowing, service learning, job sampling, paid and unpaid internships. 2. Learn how work-based learning experiences are supported and scaffolded at a CTP 3. Discuss ways to support transition of students with ID/DD to a CTP.
