Making Teacher Licensure Possible: Paraeducator to Intervention Specialist Preparation Program

This presentation addresses how one teacher prep program partnered with a couple of local school districts to provide a paraeducator to intervention specialist licensure program as a grow your own model, in a hybrid format that meets the needs of full-time paras.Participants will be able to: 1. Learn how one university jumped head-first into a paraeducator to teacher pipeline and just figured some things out as they went. 2. Have an understanding of some of the barriers to a para-to-teacher program and how this university worked to overcome some of those barriers. 3. Hear from current paras about the huge benefit of the program inspite of barriers, and how the program made the path to teacher license possible, thereby learning how to develop their own grow your own program for their local school districts.
