Math Fluency Matters: Essentials for Math Intervention
Math fluency is essential for proficiency of grade-level concepts, yet many students demonstrate significant difficulties with fluency. In this session, we highlight research conducted with Grades 4 and 5 educators and address strategies for integrating fluency-building practices into Tier 2 math instruction to enhance student outcomes. Participants will be able to: 1. Identify and select activities to support and enhance students’ fact and computation fluency. 2. Implement strategies to help students struggling with fluency, including the use of concrete manipulatives, alternative computation methods, and error analysis. 3. Gain access to our SPIRAL website, which includes demonstration videos and classroom resources to support fluency development. Additional materials include fact fluency printables, the Slips and Bugs error analysis tool, and fluency trackers to monitor progress.
