Maximizing Reading Intervention Effectiveness for Students with Disabilities Using High-Leverage Practices

Friday 13 March 2026·11:45 am

Students with reading disabilities require more explicit, systematic, and intensive instruction than their typically developing peers. This session will explore how high-leverage practices (HLPs) can maximize the effectiveness of reading interventions for these students. Practical examples will illustrate how HLPs support interventions targeting foundational reading skills.Participants will be able to: 1. Identify high-leverage practices (HLPs) that support explicit, systematic reading instruction for students with learning disabilities. 2. Identify how specific HLPs can be integrated into reading interventions targeting foundational skills. 3. Apply examples and resources (e.g., modeling, video demonstrations) to enhance the use of HLPs in intensive reading intervention settings.
