Practical Pathways to Inclusion: Communication, Independence, and Family Engagement

This session brings together diverse practices supporting students with disabilities and their families. Presenters will highlight strategies for maximizing interpreter services, partnering with bilingual family specialists, embedding mealtime instruction, and fostering caregiver-led literacy experiences. Attendees will gain practical tools to strengthen inclusion, family engagement, and independence across educational contexts.Participants will be able to: 1. Analyze effective strategies for collaborating with sign language interpreters and bilingual family specialists to promote inclusion and support multilingual families. 2. Demonstrate ways to embed instructional routines, such as mealtime independence, into preschool special education practices. 3. Apply research-based approaches to engage caregivers in supporting early literacy development at home.
