Program Chairs Spotlight Session: Transform, Adapt, Inspire: The Power of Professional Identity in Education

This session will focus on how to help prepare and retain teachers through the use of professional identity and dispositions in candidate preparation and professional development. Practitioners will be guided through current research, cultivating and intentionally reframing professional identity standards in order to shift perspectives, manage tension, and develop roles.Participants will be able to: 1. Gain an understanding of how professional identity and disposition can help practitioners use learning to adapt identity standards and gather support/resources to address change rather than leaving the profession. 2. Share this information with their peers and leaders in their own schools to empower transformational change.
