Regulations, Roles, and Supervision Structures for Paraeducators in Schoolwide Implementation of Multitiered Systems of Support

This presentation explores paraeducators’ roles within response-to-intervention and multitiered systems of support frameworks, emphasizing assistance to certified staff, assessment of student progress, and active intervention through supplemental instruction. Benefits, barriers, and policy considerations are discussed with recommendations for role definition and supervision to ensure effective implementation and positive student outcomes.Participants will be able to: 1. Define paraeducator roles within response to intervention/multitiered systems of supports according to federal guidelines with a specific focus on assistance to both general and special educators during core content delivery, assessment of student progress, and active intervention through supplemental instruction. 2. Create plans for integration of paraeducators within schoolwide response-to-intervention frameworks using standard treatment protocols, data collection tools, and collaborative planning structures. 3.
