Relating in the Classroom: Engaging Educators in Intervention Development and Coaching for Collaboration

Friday 13 March 2026·8:00 am

Educators collaboratively refined a professional development series and we iteratively improved the intervention. Findings highlight how practitioner feedback shaped content and delivery in real time. We then piloted a coaching model to work towards self-selected goals. Preliminary results indicate that the model supports educators in meeting their classroom goals.Participants will be able to: 1. Describe the structure and components of the RELATE intervention, including training, classroom observations, and ongoing coaching. 2. Identify strategies for engaging both teachers and paraeducators in collaborative decision-making to ensure professional learning is contextually relevant and responsive. 3. Identify strategies for implementing a cyclical model of goal-setting, observation, and coaching using the RELATE handbook in their own settings.
