Roles of Educators in Supporting Students with Using Image Descriptions to Access Curriculum Content
Knowledge of how to create image descriptions and instruct K-12 students to use them systematically are important skills for educators. A survey of 96 special educators collected data about image descriptions (i.e., creating, teacher knowledge, and instructional practices). The research findings and practical recommendations will be highlighted during the session. Participants will be able to: 1. Write high-quality image descriptions for five visual images. 2. List three findings of the survey conducted by the presenters. 3. Name two resources they can use when creating image descriptions and teaching students how to use image descriptions to access curriculum content.
