The overuse and traumatic consequences of restraint and seclusion have resulted in a movement to lessen their use WITHOUT sacrificing the safety of students and/or school personnel. This presentation will talk to you about the journey to shift mindsets, tackle changing a school culture, and become trauma informed. Participants will be able to: 1. Understand that it is possible to manage physically aggressive behavior safely without utilizing restraint or seclusion. 2. Describe the benefits of utilizing a trauma-informed approach. 3. Know practical strategies to utilize to change a school culture of restrictive practices.
