Self-Assessing for Program Improvement: A High Leverage Framework for Evaluating Your Special Education System

This session will provide district level staff with a framework and next-day implementable processes for performing self-assessments of their district’s special education systems. These processes will highlight practices for evaluating for improved compliance with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), and most importantly, improving outcomes for students with disabilities.Participants will be able to: 1. Understand the need for consistent evaluation of district special education policies, procedures, and practices. 2. Utilize a framework of tools and processes to perform district self-assessments on their special education systems. 3. Improve student outcomes by making data-informed decisions about special education programs and services.
