Stimulus Preference Assessment for Individuals with Severe, Multiple Disabilities: Case Studies, Results, and Implications

This session will provide rationale for and description of procedures to conduct a successive choice SPA to identify preferred stimuli for use in educational programming. Presentation of multiple case studies will illustrate application of assessment for individuals with complex needs who need alternative approaches to SPA to yield meaningful results. Participants will be able to: 1. Explain the rationale for selecting a successive choice stimulus preference assessment (SPA) for students with severe, multiple disabilities. 2. Describe the procedures for implementing the successive choice SPA. 3. Use the results of the successive choice SPA for program planning in educational settings.
