Ten Conditions for Learning: Supporting Comprehensive Literacy

There are ten critical elements essential for supporting literacy for learners with significant challenges (Koppenhaver and Erickson, 2020). This session addresses each element and apply it to the components of emergent and early conventional literacy. Throughout this interactive session, participants and presenters will share their approaches and brainstorm new solutions.Participants will be able to: 1. Describe at least three of the 10 elements for literacy learning, and give two examples of how to apply each to a literacy routine such as shared reading, shared writing, or reading comprehension. 2. Explain at least one idea that they have used to successfully implement at least two of the 10 elements for literacy learning. 3. Propose at least one new idea for successfully implementing at least two of the 10 elements for literacy learning.
