The Power of Partnership: What PLCs and Instructional Coaching Teach Us About Transformational Practice

A key driver for transforming research into practice is building teacher capacity through professional learning (PL) that includes collaboration and self-reflection within a community of practice. This session shares findings and practical suggestions from two qualitative case studies on building dynamic Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) or Instructional Coaching (IC) programs. Participants will be able to: 1. Identify the most impactful elements of a PLC or IC program that lead to growth and lasting changes to an educator's practice, as identified by the participants in the two studies considered in the sessions. 2. Apply practical suggestions to create or sustain a PLC or IC program in a virtual or live environment.
