Three Steps Toward Inclusion: Practical Strategies for Private School Educators

Private school educators face unique challenges in supporting neurodiverse learners. This session introduces three practical, research-based strategies: scaffolded formative assessments, dual coding, and think-alouds that promote inclusion across content areas. Attendees will leave with easy-to-implement tools to enhance engagement, reduce cognitive load, and build more inclusive, equitable classroom practices.Participants will be able to: 1. Define and apply three inclusive instructional strategies: scaffolded formative assessments, dual coding, and think-alouds, to support diverse learners in content-area instruction. 2. Adapt each strategy to meet the specific needs of neurodiverse students in private school classrooms, including those with learning disabilities, ADHD, and executive functioning challenges. 3. Develop a practical action plan for implementing one or more of these strategies in their own teaching practice, tailored to their grade level and school context or more of the strategies in their own instructional setting.
