What Can Your School SLP Do for You?

Speech-language pathologists' (SLPs) expertise in language development is underutilized in school settings. This session provides information about School SLPs' knowledge, roles, and responsibilities. Through real-world examples and discussion, participants will explore steps to increase SLP support of their students' language and literacy needs.Participants will be able to: 1. Describe roles of SLPs in schools. 2. Explain multiple ways SLPs facilitate improved language and literacy for children with/without disabilities. 3. Utilize strategies for teacher–SLP collaboration to improve outcomes of students with/without disabilities.
